Munteanu Cabinet 1 November 2025 – 8 July 2026 · 249 days
President
Maia Sandu
Political backing
Government backed by the single-party PAS (Party of Action and Solidarity) parliamentary majority; the opposition did not vote for it (Partidul Nostru abstained; PSRM, PCRM, Alternativa and Democrația Acasă announced they would not vote for it).
How the mandate began
President Maia Sandu designated him prime minister candidate by decree on 24 October 2025, after consulting parliamentary factions, on PAS's proposal and after Dorin Recean declined another term. Parliament gave the government its vote of confidence on 31 October 2025 with 55 votes (PAS deputies) and approved the programme "EU, peace, development" the same day; the cabinet (14 ministries) was sworn in at the Presidency on 1 November 2025, the date from which the term is counted.
How it ended
He announced his resignation on 3 July 2026, saying that when he understood he could no longer exercise the mandate in line with his principles and convictions, he chose to leave; Maia Sandu took note of the resignation request the same day, and it brought down the whole government. No other reason was officially stated (he said only that it is "a more complicated story"). By a decree signed on 7 July the President named Osmochescu acting prime minister from 8 July 2026; Munteanu did not keep the acting role.
