About moldova.pm

moldova.pm is an online archive, in Romanian and English, of the people who have led the Government of Moldova since independence. For each prime minister you will find the term of office, party, how the mandate began and ended, the main events, and the sources the information comes from.

What “prime minister” means here

The list starts with Mircea Druc (1990–1991), number 0: his government served during the struggle for independence, before Moldova declared independence on 27 August 1991. Number 1 is Valeriu Muravschi, the first head of government of the independent state. Numbering follows the Government’s own list: a prime minister gets a single number even if they led several cabinets. Mircea Druc is not included in the statistics. People who led the Government only as acting prime minister are listed separately, without a number, and are excluded from the rankings on the statistics page.

Methodology

Data comes from public sources: official acts (parliamentary decisions, presidential decrees), gov.md and parlament.md, reference press and encyclopedias. Key dates were cross-checked against several sources, but most confirmations currently come from contemporary press, the gov.md archive and news agencies, not from the texts of Parliament decisions, decrees or the Official Gazette, which could not be consulted directly. Where sources conflict or a fact could not be confirmed, the profile carries a “Not officially confirmed” box. The texts are original, not copied from sources. Each profile lists its sources.

Corrections

If you spot an error or something that could be added, write to us at contact@moldova.pm, mentioning the page and the source. The site is an independent project and does not represent the Government of Moldova or any political party.
